Bright Beauty

What a year it has been…. & its not over yet! Wherever I go the term ‘Fatigue’ seems to make its way into the conversation. Personally I feel like the stress of the last few years is really starting to take its toll. Thank goodness summer is on its way (as I write this on a rainy Auckland day!) along with some fresh beauty inspo. In the mean time here are some products I love to brighten you up.

A new Mascara is always something to write about & when I saw the large fluffy brush on the Bare Minerals Maximist mascara wand, I knew it was one I needed to try. Turns out it ticks all the boxes as it creates lovely long, inky black lashes without any clumping or dryness. I have found it requires a bit of building up, which I actually prefer as you always need to put in time for the best results. Because its from Bare Minerals (who were the forerunners of mineral makeup) its fully Vegan & paraben-free & would you believe it contains orange peel fibres for volume! What I like most about this mascara is that it washes off SO easily, causing no eye irritation. Its super reasonable too at $37 & I grabbed mine from Mecca.

I just love a good serum… so much so that I use My Clinique Smart clinical repair serum in the morning & Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair before I go to bed (& a few other moisturisers in between…!) My latest discovery is Cliniques All About Eyes de puffing eye massage serum. It comes in a light tube with a metal roller ball as an applicator. When applied it his feels smooth & cold on the skin & the improvement to tired puffy eyes is almost instantaneous. For extra effectiveness you can keep it in the fridge as the chilled metal really works to de-puff & brighten the eyes. The formulation is very light so you can layer it with other richer eye creams too. RRP is about $77.

Its hard to find a good blusher & even though they might stand out like candy on the makeup counter, I often find that they simply dont pack a punch once applied. Too much blusher looks dreadful, yet not enough can make you look fatigued. No matter how many I test, I always find that the most reliable blushers are from MAC. Its really hard to go wrong with their colour intensity & longevity (& the same goes for MAC eye shadows too, as I really trust them) My favourite blush from the Mac range is the Mineralize Skinfinish . This product is actually a cross between a blush, a highlighter & a bronzer so its ultra versatile & can also be used as an eye shadow & a body shimmer too. I personally use the shade Cheeky Bronze ( a warm rosy brown) & Im often amazed at how it instantly brightens up my face. . Its about $80 but I swear it lasts forever as its a beautifully pressed mineral powder of the highest quality, made in Italy x
