Get an even better glow
A brand new Clinique Foundation has just hit the makeup counters & its a beauty. Even Better Glow Light Reflecting Makeup creates a finish that is light & dewy, with just enough coverage to make your skin look flawless & glowing… Its my new favourite foundation.
Back in my early days of make-up (the 80′s & beyond) it was common practice to disguise even the most gorgeous skin with a mask of Shiseido Beauty Cake or any of the other brands of the moment that all offered a glamorous ‘full coverage’ pancake makeup. This was applied with a damp sponge & blended all over the face, down the neck & into the hairline (Im not kidding either, as I used to teach this practice in the makeup classes at our modelling agency) To make matters even more unnatural you then pressed on loose powder for that flawless effect. Thats one of the reasons mid 80′s makeup was so creative, we had a perfect canvas to work on!
Once I established myself as a makeup artist I wanted to find a foundation that was more natural, blend-able & most of all ‘sheer’… enter Clinique ‘Balanced Makeup’, one of the first great liquid foundations. It was a revelation to be able to smooth out the complexion & create a beautiful base while still being able to see the skins natural tone & texture. I have always been a stickler for colour matching, (especially in the days of the dreaded makeup ‘tideline’) & using a good liquid foundation gave me the freedom to match the skin to perfection.
Fast forward a few decades & I still use Clinique foundations for my work (& for myself). Balanced Makeup became Super Balanced (still a goodie) & Even Better Makeup became a constantly recommended favourite. So whats the difference with Even Better Glow? It is slightly lighter in texture than ‘Even Better’ (which has a more creamy consistency) & can be used over your moisturiser to create a finish as light as a CC Cream, or alternatively you can build it up to create a moderate coverage with a satiny finish. Its moisturising, oil free formulation has a radiance to it with subtle, luminous pigments that create a ‘glow’. It also contains vitamin C & a broad spectrum SPF15 so over time it will help combat pigmentation. The colour range is extensive, with something for every skin type- from the palest alabaster to the darkest olive.
I have had Cliniques Even Better Glow range in my kit for the past few weeks & I am in love with it. I have used it on the Briscoe’s Lady to create that flawless look for TV (of course Tammy already has that inner glow!) I trialled it on my fair skinned friend who hates foundation & she couldn’t believe how good her skin looked & felt. I even had the opportunity to introduce it to a beautiful Indian girl who always has trouble colour matching her dark skin & we found the perfect shade (Sand CN90)
Needless to say I cant rave enough. Get it at your nearest Clinique counter. A new foundation for summer… Perfect!
