My shopping List
As Auckland heads into week five of hard lockdown, my shopping list gets longer & longer. Theres only so much money I can spend at Farro Fresh & my trips to the Chemist Warehouse are becoming less & less exciting. All of a sudden I seem to have three semi-dry mascaras in my makeup bag, my Advanced Night Repair is on its last legs & Im scraping the dregs from my tube of Clinique Tinted Moisturiser (which I apply religiously- even on my most blue lockdown days)
Even my Art Supplies are dwindling & trust me not to stock up when I kept hearing about rumours of a lockdown. I did however manage to place an order from Warehouse stationers & my package arrived in a matter of days… Thank goodness the things I needed were considered essential! Apart from digging deep for some inspo to start a painting (which I finished- see above pic, her name is Eva-Marie) I have also been on an archiving kick, laboriously sifting through boxes of memorabilia from the 70’s & 80’s & pasting them artistically into various scrapbooks. I was so appreciative to find that the Supermarket stocks glue-stick ;)
Most of my cupboards are clean & tidy… I have thrown away screeds of paper, ruthlessly sorted through my clothes (a large pile awaits the reopening of the Red Cross shop) & most importantly I have carefully curated my makeup & beauty products. My working Makeup kit is absolutely spotless & organised like a dream & my brushes are beautifully washed & smelling sweet. Theres something about a well organised makeup kit, as it really does make my job all the more joyful & Im looking forward to the day when I can be back on set working my magic.
So my shopping list? I remember after last years lockdown I went nuts in Westfield New Market (my local) & purchased expensive Gucci Sunglasses & blue suede Italian boots- both of which I have loved & worn to death. This time Im not so desperate for those sorts of things… I really fancy a trip to the garden centre so I can plant my usual spring Lettuces & get some food for my beloved Frangipani plant. There are so many books I want to buy so when Time Out in Mt Eden Village finally opens again Ill be lining up. Zara is calling my name as theres no better place to get funky & well priced clothing & by the time we get out of lockdown Spring will be well in bloom & Ill be organising my summer wardrobe. I really look forward to browsing in Mecca, where I can finally get some new mascara, plus buy gifts for cousins & friends who have had birthdays in lockdown.
Times like these make you really appreciate the simple things we take for granted, like meeting good friends at your fave restaurant (my choice is always Hot Hot in Sandringham) & sharing spicy food with a glass of wine… I can see that in my future!
Take care everyone- keep up that good skincare routine & drink plenty of water (to counter act the wine consumption) so you will be fresh & glowing for when we are all allowed out again. Nikki x
